Every night is an occasion at The Tasting Shed.
With their TV production and directing work determining what country they would live in next, husband-and-wife team Ganesh and Jo lived in many countries before choosing New Zealand as the place to establish roots, raise their daughter and embark on a new career as restauranteurs.
Their vision was to offer the freshest ingredients, accentuate these with an array of wines by the glass, and create an atmosphere which fuels the desire to discover new flavours among friends and family. The Tasting Shed presents a complete experience for the senses. There is no doubt that food tastes better in good company with the right ambience.
Here at The Tasting Shed, Ganesh, Jo and the team are devoted to bringing you the best dining experience Auckland has to offer – an entrée style gastronomic voyage that takes your taste buds on an adventure.
Ganesh and Jo designed every aspect of the restaurant with the goal of making their customers feel like they were dining in an extension of their home.

The Living Room is the largest venue on The Tasting Shed’s premises, seating up to 40 guests at any one time.
The rustic, country aesthetics have been intentionally preserved with the use of natural and recycled materials throughout. The furnishings are full of character and you’ll find that the interiors’ details evoke images of their own unique and varied histories.
The Grotto at The Tasting Shed in Kumeu features a waterproof overhead canopy covering the partially enclosed, heated space. It is the perfect dining area for those times when it’s too chilly to dine outside, but your heart longs for the outdoors.
The Living Table at The Tasting Shed showcases the synergy between our sophisticated entréestyle menu and the freedom that comes with dining outdoors. The result is a sensory delight - al fresco.
The Cabana at The Tasting Shed redefines indoor outdoor flow, with a variable configuration so the space can be adapted depending on your preferences.
